October 18, 2019, marked a dramatic day for Jane Asimizi, a policewoman who had been expressing her frustrations with the police service in a viral video.
Just hours after Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai directed her bosses to ensure she receives psychiatric help, Asimizi was ordered to write a letter explaining her intentions.
Asimizi's outburst, which was captured in an amateur video, highlighted her grievances against the police service, including being assigned jobs without allowances.
“Why are they doing this to me? Is it because I'm married to a police officer who is a Luhya?” Asimizi wondered in the video.
Asimizi claimed she had been mistreated since 2009, when she was sent to work in Western.
Her video sparked a reaction from the Inspector General of Police, who intervened to ensure she receives the necessary help.
