Published on October 19, 2019, a political tussle is brewing in the Jubilee party in the Sirisia region, pitting Sirisia MP John Waluke against Lwandanyi ward MCA Tony Barasa.
The fallout began when Waluke referred to Barasa as a 'young boy who has failed in his representation duties' during a burial ceremony for Clement Omasaja Simiyu.
Waluke's comments sparked a furious response from Barasa, who accused the MP of belittling and using obscene language against him as a way of endorsing someone to replace him in 2022.
Barasa denied allegations that he had married another woman, saying he had attended the county assembly sports association for the last 10 days and had not been involved in any such activities.
He called on Waluke to step down and prepare to vie for Lwandanyi's ward seat if he felt that by belittling him he would have an easy ride to endorse someone against him.
Waluke and Barasa's relationship has been strained since Waluke was allegedly replaced by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa as Bungoma county Jubilee chairman in a coup that brought a cold working relationship between the two leaders.
