On October 17, 2019, a serious case of forgery came to light in Kayole, Nairobi, where two individuals allegedly created 38 fake birth certificates.
The accused, Peter Muriuki and Florida Aseko, were arraigned at the Milimani court on Friday, where they faced charges of forgery.
According to the allegations, the two forged the documents on or before October 17, purporting them to be genuine certificates of birth issued by the department of civil registration services.
However, the two denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi.
Seeking leniency, their lawyer argued that they had no steady income, being jobless casual labourers.
Magistrate Ochoi released them on a bond of Sh500, 000 with a surety of similar amount and an alternative cash bail of Sh300, 000.
The case is set to resume on November 18.
