November 14th, 2017, marked a significant day in Kisumu's cleanliness efforts, thanks to the initiatives of Anyang' Nyongo. A resident of the city, who has lived there for 20 years, has commended Nyongo's efforts, stating that cleanliness is next to godliness.
However, the resident believes that sustaining a clean image for Kisumu requires more than just physical cleanliness. They emphasize the need for 'spiritual cleanliness,' which involves driving out the spirit of violence and anarchy that has plagued the city.
The resident, who has witnessed demonstrations in Kisumu, expresses their pain at the sight of embers decimating good roads, huge boulders blocking progress, and hooliganism scaring people. They urge that littering be heavily punished, as it undermines the efforts of those who work to keep the city clean.
Despite the challenges, the resident remains optimistic about Kisumu's potential, stating that it is the best city they have ever lived in.
