On a thrilling note, the curtains came down on the 2019 KCB Kenya National Autocross Championship at the Mombasa Cement factory racetrack in Kilifi County, with Sahib Omar and Kunal Patel emerging as the champions.

Published on October 19, 2019, the event saw Omar retain the 4WD Turbo title after a closely contested battle with Nashad Kara, the eventual class winner and Coast Rally Champion.

Despite giving the last heat a wide berth, Omar's third overall finish in the season-ending extravaganza was enough to secure back-to-back titles in a season where he left all his opponents in the dust.

According to Omar, the track was particularly wet in the first two heats, but conditions improved as the race gained momentum.

However, in the third heat, they suffered a mechanical issue and decided to skip the last heat to avoid taking unnecessary risks.

Reflecting on his victory, Omar expressed his excitement at retaining the title and hinted at his plans for the next season, which include competing in a few KNRCs and aiming for a hat-trick of Championship wins.

Meanwhile, Nanyuki's Kunal Patel celebrated his maiden Championship in the Two Wheel Drive Turbo Class after winning the last round.

Patel's campaign was effectively sealed when his closest challenger, Shalien Mughal, prematurely called it quits after getting stuck in the practice heat.
