NRG Radio Backtracks on Eliud Kipchoge Branding After Cease and Desist Letter ¶
NRG Radio has stopped using Eliud Kipchoge's name after being served with a cease and desist letter by the athlete's lawyer, Donald B. Kipkorir, on October 18, 2019.
The radio station had rebranded itself as 'Kipchoge Radio' without Kipchoge's knowledge or consent, riding on the hype of Kipchoge's historic 1:59 marathon run.
According to a tweet by Mulembe Analyst, Kipchoge's lawyer sent a cease and desist letter to NRG Radio, demanding that they expunge Kipchoge's name, images, and references from all their social media and online platforms within two hours.
NRG Radio has since removed all mentions of Kipchoge's name and is now referring to itself as 'Mashuja Radio.'
Kenyan Twitter users had varied reactions to the situation, with some expressing support for Kipchoge and others criticizing NRG Radio for their actions.

As one Twitter user noted, 'That letter sent to NRG Radio by Kipchoges' lawyers is the best thing i've seen this week...tabia ya kudandia sweat ya watu itaisha..infact i unfollowed them.'
