On October 18, 2019, a gruesome murder took place in Kampala, Uganda, leaving the community in shock.

A resident of Busega, Kibumbiro zone in Rubaga Division, Fred Mugisha, was attacked by a man wielding two machetes during lunch hours on Friday.

According to local leaders and residents, the assailant and the deceased were acquaintances, and a scuffle ensued inside the house moments after they had a chat.

The house had been locked from inside, but the assailant broke the door open and charged at the residents with the machetes, which were already stained with blood.

Residents pursued the assailant, who entered a nearby shop and tried to kill the owner. However, no one dared to confront him at that moment.

It was then that residents alerted the police, who shot the assailant in the legs to disarm him. Angry residents removed him from the shop and beat him terribly before he was taken to hospital unconscious.

Police are yet to establish the assailant's motive, but Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, Mr. Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect was taken to Mulago hospital as investigations continue.
