On Wednesday, Betika launched its ambitious initiative, 'BetikaNaCommunity', aimed at investing millions of shillings in community development and nurturing talent in local sports, arts, and culture.
Speaking at a press briefing, Betika's Commercial Head, Mr. John Mbatiah, reiterated the company's commitment to supporting local sports, arts, and culture.
Under the initiative, Betika will focus on:
- Local sports and clubs sponsorships
- Individual sports and talent development
- Growth and diversification into new sports
- Renovation of community centers and sports grounds
- Distribution of sports equipment
- Trials and access to professional training for upcoming talents
- Support for local artists through performances in sporting activities
As part of this initiative, Betika will sponsor local community football tournaments across the country, reaching all 47 counties.
Mr. Mbatiah emphasized the importance of giving sportspeople a chance to showcase and grow their skills, stating, 'It gives us great joy to see our sports people getting a chance to showcase and grow their skills. Betika is the community and the community is Betika!' He also pledged to work with the national government, local authorities, and sports personalities to achieve this goal.
Notably, this is not the first time Betika has invested in grassroots sports initiatives. The company has previously sponsored various sports, including football, cricket, golf, motocross, rallying, and the Rhino Charge.
Additionally, Betika has recently boosted its sponsorship for the upcoming Safari 7s and motocross racing at Masinga TT, as well as renewed its sponsorship deal with Sofapaka.
As part of its commitment to responsible betting, Betika has also introduced a free counseling service for gamblers with betting addiction.
