On October 9, a disturbing incident occurred at a home in Kiambiu, Kamukunji, where a 38-year-old woman allegedly assaulted her four-year-old child, causing grievous harm.
Pauline Atieno, the accused, was charged before senior resident magistrate Bernard Ochoi on Friday.
According to the allegations, Atieno used blunt objects, including a cooking stick, to attack the minor, resulting in a broken hand that is still bandaged.
Atieno denied the charges, claiming the child is not four years old.
She was released on a bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
The case is set to resume on November 18, with the state seeking orders to take the child to a children's home.
