On October 17, 2019, Michael Jordan, widely regarded as the NBA's greatest all-time player, opened the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The clinic, one of two single-handedly financed by Jordan's family in North Carolina, will serve over 35,000 children and adults over the next five years, providing primary health care services, social workers, behavioural health experts, oral health practitioners, and physical therapy.

Speaking at the opening, Jordan expressed his gratitude to the community that has supported him over the years, saying, 'This is a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me over the years.'

With a net worth of $1.9 billion, Jordan donated a significant amount, KSh 747,072,000 ($7.2 million), for the two clinics, with the second facility expected to open on Statesville Avenue.

Notably, Forbes magazine named Jordan as the world's highest-paid athlete of all time two years ago, and recently, Business Insider claimed that the legendary basketballer earns more money in retirement than any active NBA player.
