On October 18, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge, the world marathon record holder, announced that he would be taking NRG Radio to court for using his name to promote their brand without his consent.

According to reports, Kipchoge had retained the services of Nairobi lawyer Donald B Kikporir to handle the case.

Kikporir sent a demand letter to NRG Radio, giving them two hours to remove Kipchoge's name from their social media pages.

The athlete also rejected a vehicle that NRG Radio had promised to gift him in exchange for one million likes on Instagram.
