Published on October 18, 2019, the decision by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru to reappoint a deceased individual to the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) board of directors sparked public outrage.
Following the backlash, Mucheru on Friday recalled the gazette notice appointing the late Robert Kochalle and substituted his name with that of his widow, Charity Kochalle.
The appointment drew widespread criticism, with many questioning the lack of due diligence in the appointment process.
According to an obituary in the Daily Nation, Robert Kochalle died in May 2018 at the Aga Khan Hospital.
CE Ezekiel Mutua defended the reappointment, terming it a 'small issue being blown out of proportion.'
