On October 18, 2019, Huawei refreshed its 2019 P series lineup in Kenya by introducing an upgraded version of the P30 Lite.

The new variant boasts a 48-megapixel camera, a significant upgrade from the 24-megapixel camera found on the initial model launched in April 2019.

According to Huawei, the 48MP high-resolution camera uses a proprietary super sampling lossless zoom technology, allowing it to deliver zooming performance equivalent to a professional telephoto lens supporting 2x optical zoom.

The ultra-wide-angle snapper and the depth sensor remain unchanged at 8 and 2 megapixels respectively. The device's other features and specifications also remain the same.

The new variant is priced at Kshs 28,499, a slight reduction from the initial launch retail price of the P30 Lite in April 2019.

However, the competitive pricing may not be enough to give Huawei's new gadget an edge in the market, as it will have to compete with new heavy hitters like Oppo's A9 2020 and the Samsung Galaxy A50, both of which are available at similar price points.
