On October 17, 2019, a disturbing case unfolded at Kibera Law Courts, where a four-year-old girl testified against a suspect accused of defiling her with a sex toy on different dates between September 1, 2018, and March 31, 2019, in Dagoretti.

The accused, Yvonne Minamo, a middle-aged woman, was also facing an alternate charge of sexually assaulting a person unlawfully penetrating the genital organs of another with an object not carried out for purposes outlined in Section 5(1)(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Act.

According to the victim, she frequently visited the accused's house, where she would play hide and seek with the accused's daughter. The victim recalled that Minamo would strip her naked and insert a vibrating machine inside her vagina.

The prosecution informed the court that the victim's mother realized her daughter had been defiled upon noticing an infection and that the child had informed her that Minamo had been inserting an object in her private part. A doctor from Nairobi Women's Hospital confirmed that the victim had been defiled.

The mother further testified that the accused would sneak into her house and disappear with the child.

Senior resident magistrate Boaz Ombewa released Minamo on Ksh. 400,000 bond pending further scheduled hearing dates.
