Thika Road Flyover: A Game-Changer for Nairobi's Traffic ¶
Construction on the Allsops section of Thika Superhighway has been in full swing for a few months now, with motorists marveling at the rapid progress.
While the new flyover is intended to alleviate traffic congestion at the Outering road intersection, which has become a common occurrence since the completion of the Outering road, few have been able to visualize the final product.
According to engineers, the solution to this problem lies in separating outbound Outering traffic from the inbound one. The current GSU round-about bridge serves both purposes, but this will change with the new flyover.
Traffic from Nairobi intending to join Outering road will use the new bridge under construction, then take the clear service lane to Outering. If their intention was to turn back to Nairobi, they will instead take a new service lane that has been built and excavated.
There is also a new separate service lane for those driving from the Thika side, but intend to turn back using the old GSU bridge. Provision has also been made for a bus park.
