October 18, 2019, marked a day of shock and outrage in Kenya as ICT CS Joe Mucheru reappointed a deceased individual to the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) board of directors.

The late Robert Kochalle, who passed away in June 2018, was reappointed to serve on the KFCB board for another three years, sparking widespread criticism and disappointment.

Mr. Kochalle had a distinguished career in public service, serving as the MP for Laisamis between 1992 and 1997 and as the assistant minister in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Kenya's Twitter community expressed their shock and disappointment at the appointment, with many questioning the decision-making process behind the reappointment.

"Well, they have been appointing old men and women. No harm in trying the dead with some of these heavy government responsibilities. After all, Kenya is dead!" tweeted Nelson Havi.

"JUBILEE.. just to show how fair and visionary it is has appointed a dead Kenya to be a board member of a state corporation…take it from me…at this rate MY BELOVED PARTY JUBILEE will rule Kenya for another 100 years…" tweeted Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC.
