On October 8, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Pipeline estate, Embakasi, Nairobi, where a 37-year-old man allegedly hacked his ex-wife's husband and robbed him of Sh52,000.
Edwin Steve Onyinkwa, the accused, is said to have stormed into Duncan Nganika Mbumbu's house during the day, accompanied by two other men. They ordered the housegirl to call Mbumbu's wife, Faitth Wanza, to return immediately, but before she made the call, Wanza arrived.
Wanza was then grabbed by the men and dragged into her bedroom, where she was tortured after being ordered to strip naked. She was forced to call Mbumbu and lie that she had been involved in a road accident, and he was instructed to pick her up from the house.
Mbumbu took a bodaboda home, only to be met by the three men who attacked him. He dodged a panga aimed at his head but suffered multiple stab wounds on the head, neck, abdomen, and hands, inflicted by one of the men who used a Somali sword.
Onyinkwa denied the charges before Makadara chief magistrate Heston Nyaga and was released on a Sh 500,000 bond.
