On October 17, 2019, the International Court of Justice announced that it had moved the maritime case between Kenya and Somalia to June 2020. The delay was due to Kenya's request for more time to arrange a legal team.
The court granted Kenya's second request, moving the final date of the Kenya-Somalia hearing to June 8-12, 2020. Somalia's Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that the court had postponed the matter to accommodate Kenya's request.
This is the second time the UN court has moved the Kenya-Somalia maritime border row. The first hearing was initially scheduled for September 9, but was rescheduled to November 4.
