The Guru Nanak Devji 550th birth anniversary golf tournament is set to take place at the par 72 Nakuru Golf Club on Saturday, with a huge field of over 150 golfers participating.
The two-day charity event is an initiative by upcountry Sikh golfers to commemorate the birth of their community's founder, Guru Nanak Devji, a revolutionary activist 550 years ago.
Guru Nanak's universal clarion call was justice and equality for all, service to others, women empowerment, honest living, conservation of nature, and above all, the oneness of God.
The event is presented by several sponsors, including Garmin, Comply Industries Limited, Car & General, Rai Cement, and others.
According to the event's convener, Mandeep Sahota, the course is in mint condition, thanks to the good rains in the region, and the draw will be followed strictly to ensure all participants finish their rounds on time.
The funds received from the event will be channelled towards Langar, a free kitchen that caters for needy children's homes in Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, and Kisumu Sikh Temples.
Meanwhile, the 9-hole Nanyuki Sports Club in Laikipia will host the ICEA golf tournament, featuring golfers from sister clubs Nyeri Club, Nyahururu Sports Club, and other visiting golfers.
