Justice Daniel Ogembo has adjourned the case of Peter Karanja, a suspect in the murder of Tob Cohen, to October 22, to allow Cohen's relatives to file an affidavit in response to Karanja's application for release on bond.
Karanja, who has been in custody for over 35 days, claims he has cooperated fully with investigators and is not a flight risk, as his travel documents are being held by the police.
He also promised not to interfere with witnesses, and Justice Ogembo directed that Karanja be taken to Kenyatta National Hospital if necessary, for specialized treatment and diet to manage his diabetes.
Karanja has denied murdering Cohen, an offence allegedly committed on the night of July 19 and 20, and is accused of committing the offence with others not before court.
Cohen's widow, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, has also denied the murder charge and was released after depositing cash bail of Sh2 million in court.
