Published on October 17, 2019, Matt Reeves' highly anticipated film, The Batman, has found its first villain. Paul Dano has been cast as The Riddler, a character known for his clever puzzles and riddles.
Best known for his critically acclaimed roles in There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine, and 12 Years a Slave, Dano will bring a new take to the iconic character. The Riddler was last seen on screen in 1995 in Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever, where he was played by Jim Carrey.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dano will play a version of the supervillain named Edward Nashton, also known as Edward Nygma in the comics. This casting news follows the announcement earlier this week that Zoë Kravitz had been chosen for the role of Catwoman, and Robert Pattinson will play Bruce Wayne in the film.
