On October 16, 2019, Betika, a leading betting company in Kenya, announced a groundbreaking initiative dubbed 'BetikaNaCommunity'.
The ambitious project aims to invest hundreds of millions of shillings in supporting community development and nurturing talent in local sports, both at the grassroots and mainstream levels.
Speaking at a press briefing, John Mbatiah, Betika's Head of Commercial Department, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting local sports, arts, and culture.
According to Mbatiah, the initiative will focus on the following areas:
- Local sports and clubs sponsorships
- Individual sports and talent development
- Grow and diversify into new sports
Additionally, Betika will support the fusion of local artists through performances in sporting activities, renovate community centers and sports grounds, and distribute sports equipment to grassroots teams.
The company has also announced that it will sponsor local community football tournaments across all 47 counties.
As part of its efforts to promote responsible betting, Betika has unveiled a free counseling service for gamblers with betting addiction, where customers can call to receive free counseling services.
