Published on October 17, 2019, Mesut Ozil has put to rest speculation about his future at Arsenal, stating he will remain with the club until the summer of 2021.
Despite featuring in only two of Arsenal's 11 games this season under head coach Unai Emery, Ozil has expressed his frustration at being unable to participate in matches due to illness, saying, 'I also get really frustrated when I miss a game through illness and people question if it is genuine.'
Ozil has come under fire from Arsenal fans for his absence on matchdays, but he has rejected suggestions that he uses his health as an excuse, stating that he is committed to seeing out his contract.
When asked about his decision to sign a new deal with Arsenal in 2018, Ozil said, 'I thought about it very carefully and said it was one of the most important decisions of my footballing career. I didn’t want to stay for just one or two more years, I wanted to commit my future to Arsenal and the club wanted me to do the same.'
