On October 17, 2019, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issued a statement cautioning motorists about the dangers of driving in wet weather.

Following a morning accident on Thika Road that involved over 6 cars, the NTSA urged drivers to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

According to the NTSA, even moderate rain can significantly reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents. To mitigate this, the authority provided the following tips:

  • Be alert when driving
  • Ensure seat belts are fastened
  • Avoid traveling when there is heavy rain
  • Do not attempt to cross running water
  • Slow down
  • Use wiper blades to improve visibility
  • Keep headlights on to increase visibility to other road users
  • Avoid using the cruise control facility

NTSA's advice is aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users, including cyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians.
