On October 17, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto received a warm welcome from four Kisii leaders who pledged to support his 2022 presidential bid.
MPs Richard Tong'i (Nyaribari Chache), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba), and Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi extended the invitation to DP Ruto during a graduation ceremony at the Kisii National Polytechnic.
DP Ruto's visit to the region was met with enthusiasm from the local leaders, who praised his hard work and dedication to the area.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi dismissed critics of DP Ruto, saying, "As leaders from the Gusii community, we like associating ourselves with hardworking people. Please continue coming back to Gusii region."
MP Kemosi expressed confidence that DP Ruto's trips to the region would yield positive results in the 2022 elections.
Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose also assured DP Ruto of their full support, saying, "Anytime you are invited to preside over functions in Gusii region, you always find the time. I can assure you full support in 2022."
During the graduation ceremony, DP Ruto ordered the implementation of a competency-based curriculum in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TIVET) institutions.
