Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her bodyguard Geoffrey Okuto Otieno have been released on Ksh. 500,000 cash bail, pending further investigations into the killing of an ODM supporter in Ganda area.

Senior Resident Magistrate Vincent Adet dismissed the Prosecution's application to detain the two, stating that the police should charge them with a disclosed offense if they have evidence.

The court noted that it was not dealing with factual evidence at this stage, as opined by the Prosecution.

However, Jumwa and her bodyguard have been directed to present themselves at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Malindi on October 22 to assist with investigations.

The Prosecution had sought to have Jumwa and her bodyguard detained for 21-days pending conclusion of investigations into the shooting incident.
