On October 17, 2019, a devastating incident occurred in Kitui County, resulting in the loss of four lives.
The victims, employees of a local telecommunication firm, attempted to drive through a flooded section of the Mutindi River, but their vehicle was swept away by the raging waters.
According to Kitui West sub county police commander John Sawe, two people managed to escape unhurt, while three bodies were recovered from the wreckage.
Efforts are underway to retrieve the fourth body, believed to be stuck in the partially submerged vehicle.
