Patrick Day: Boxer Dies After Suffering Brain Injuries in Charles Conwell Fight

On October 16, 2019, the boxing world was left in shock after the tragic death of Patrick Day, a 27-year-old American super-welterweight boxer.

Day had suffered a brutal knockout defeat in the 10th round of his fight against Charles Conwell, a 21-year-old boxer, in an undercard match.

According to reports, Day received two punches on the chin, fell into a coma, and was rushed to hospital, where he underwent brain surgery.

However, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Day succumbed to his injuries four days after the fight.

Conwell, who was just 21 years old at the time, expressed his regret over the outcome of the bout, stating that he never meant for it to happen and would take it all back if he could.

Day's death was met with an outpouring of tributes from the boxing community, with many paying their respects to the young boxer's kindness, positivity, and generosity of spirit.
