On October 17, 2019, Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang' Nyong'o announced a major reshuffle of his county executive committee, citing the need to improve service delivery.

The governor sacked three county executive committee members (CECs): Thomas Ondijo (Roads), Alice Moraa (Energy and Industrialisation), and Richard Ogendo (Business, Co-operatives and Marketing).

Finance and Economic Planning CEC Nerry Achar was moved to the Energy and Industrialisation docket, while acting county secretary and economic advisor George Omondi Okong'o took over as Finance and Economic Planning CEC.

Okong'o's name has been forwarded to the county assembly for vetting and approval.

Physical Planning CEC Dickson Obungu was appointed acting CEC for Roads, while Education CEC John Obiero Ogone will hold brief in the Finance department.

Agriculture CEC Gilchrist Okuom is now acting in the Business docket.

"The CECs appointed in acting roles shall continue to hold those temporary roles alongside their substantive portfolios. The changes take effect immediately," said Director of the Governor's Press unit Aloyce Ager.
