On Wednesday morning, a six-car pile-up brought traffic to a standstill along the busy Thika Superhighway, with the incident occurring at 6:30am.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved four Passenger Service Vehicles (PSVs) and two personal cars, including a double cabin pickup and a Toyota Probox.
Police at the scene attributed the accident to the slippery road conditions caused by the morning rain, which led to a bus skidding off the road and hitting the guard rail.
The bus, which was attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control and collided with oncoming vehicles, causing a chain reaction that resulted in the six-car pile-up.
Despite the heavy rain hampering visibility, police were able to clear the accident scene quickly, but the traffic jam persisted due to the large number of vehicles involved.
Fortunately, no major injuries were reported in the incident.
