Italian Football Club AS Roma Launches Swahili Twitter Account ¶
On October 16, 2019, AS Roma made history by becoming the first European football club to launch an official Swahili Twitter account.
The new account was created in response to fan requests, particularly after the club's English account tweeted in Swahili to congratulate Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge on his incredible achievement in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, Austria.
Club president Jim Pallotta had previously responded to fan requests in Swahili, confirming that the club would launch an official Roma Swahili account.
The first tweet on the new account featured a cheeky video initially created by American comedians Michael Key and Jordan Peele, captioned: “Roma Swahili Admin is here!!!”
