On October 16, 2019, Tony Gachoka, a well-known television host, was detained at Diani Airstrip in Kwale County after a heated exchange with authorities.
Gachoka, who hosts the popular television show Pointblank on KTN, was attempting to board a Silverstone Air flight to Nairobi when he was stopped due to the presence of alcoholic beverages, which violate the airline's rules.
According to Msambweni OCPD Nehemiah Bitok, Gachoka will spend the night in police custody and is expected to appear in court in Kwale on Thursday to face charges related to causing a disturbance.
Gachoka, a 50-year-old political activist with strong connections in the country, has hosted and produced Pointblank on KTN every Wednesday night. His show featuring former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando was set to air on the same night as his arrest.
