On October 16, 2019, police in Homa Bay made a significant breakthrough in the recovery of two stolen cargo containers worth Sh1.4 million. The containers, which were used to transport road maintenance equipment from Mombasa to Homa Bay, had gone missing under unclear circumstances between May 5, 2017, and April 3, 2018.

According to reports, the containers were recovered in Kisumu County and Muhoroni, with one found in the compound of a man known to the county leadership in Kochola East A village. A woman was arrested in connection with the second container.

The recovery of the containers is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the theft. The police are still looking for the suspect involved in the theft.
