Manchester United's Premier League clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford is just days away, but the Red Devils have suffered a major injury setback.
Goalkeeper David De Gea, who has been highly consistent for the Red Devils since joining them in 2011, limped off the pitch in the 60th minute of Spain's Euro 2020 qualifier against Sweden on October 15, 2019.
De Gea signaled for help from the medical team and was immediately replaced by Chelsea stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
According to preliminary reports, the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper suffered a muscular injury while trying to clear the ball off his side's danger zone.
Manchester United have confirmed the news on their official website, hinting that De Gea might be available for this weekend's crunch clash.
However, the club has also stated that De Gea's fitness will be a concern for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the match.
"De Gea's fitness will no doubt be a concern for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of this weekend’s huge Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford," the club said in a statement.
"The boss will give an update on the Spaniard’s chances of playing during his pre-match press conference on Friday," the statement continued.
