On October 16, 2019, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) issued a warning to job seekers about fake recruitment adverts circulating on social media.

The adverts, which have been doing the rounds on social media and WhatsApp, claim that EABL is recruiting for various positions and promise successful applicants a minimum of Sh26,000 per month for those with form four certificates only, and a maximum of Sh42,000 per month for those with more qualifications and experience.

However, EABL has denied the claims, stating that the adverts are false and have not originated from the company or its subsidiary companies.

"This is false advertising and has not originated from EABL or its subsidiary companies," said the brewer in an advertisement.

EABL has reported the scammers to the authorities and has started the process to pursue the perpetrators.

"If you come across this fake advertising, kindly report the matter to relevant authorities near you... the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities for investigations and perpetrators will be prosecuted," EABL said.

This is not the first time that scammers have targeted desperate Kenyans, with US Aid Kenya and Huduma Centre also falling victim to fake job adverts in the past.
