On October 8, 2019, Catholic priest Michael Maingi Kyengo went missing while traveling from Tala to his Thatha parish in Masinga.
He had been on leave and had gone home to look after his parents in Tala Kangundo.
According to witnesses, the priest was in the company of a worker who was fencing his compound in Tala when he was kidnapped.
Reports indicate that he was strangled to death and buried near a seasonal river in Embu.
On Wednesday, police officers and government pathologists exhumed the body from Mashamba area, Makima location in Mbeere South.
