Published on October 16, 2019, AFC Leopards management has denied reports that the club's bus is being auctioned to settle a debt of Sh800,000 owed to a Kakamega hotel.

According to club secretary-general Oliver Sikuku, the debt was incurred for services rendered to the hotel, but the bus was bought through the fans' initiative and is not a means of offsetting the debt.

'The bus was bought through the fans' initiative and there are no plans to take it from us. We have been negotiating with the owner of the hotel and even agreed on the mode of payment. If they wanted the bus, they would have taken it during our matches in Western Kenya,' Sikuku explained.

However, the financial crisis at the club continues, with players owed salary arrears and winning bonuses accrued for the last three months.

The crisis is largely attributed to the sudden withdrawal of SportPesa as the club's shirt sponsor.
