On August 2019, singer Harmonize released a song praising Tanzanian President John Magufuli's work and developments in the country.
He referred to Magufuli as 'daddy', saying he is the president of the oppressed.
The song, which garnered 3.9 million views, has sparked speculation that Harmonize may run for a political seat in 2020.
Magufuli, in turn, appreciated Harmonize's work and suggested he vie for the Tandahimba MP seat, saying, 'where does he come from? Tandahimba? Who is the MP there? Then I would love for him to be the MP for Tandahimba because I applaud his good job.'
With this endorsement, Harmonize joins a growing list of East African celebrities who may enter politics, including Bobi Wine from Uganda and Jaguar from Kenya.
