Uhuru Vows to Make Building Bridges Initiative Work, Warns Kenyans about Tribal Politics

On October 16, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the Mombasa Road Expressway, a four-lane dual carriageway project that will decongest the CBD.

Speaking at the launch, Uhuru hit out at people he called political conmen who were out to mislead Kenyans and divide them along tribal lines.

“BBI lazima tutafanya, Mimi na ndugu Raila lazima hio njia tutapitisha wakenya, BBI si ya kupea Uhuru Kenyatta kazi, mimi nimechoka. BBI niya kuhakikisha mkenya hatamwaga damu tena wakati wa uchaguzi, msidanganywe na matapeli huku nje”, President Uhuru said.

He also weighed in on the violence meted out on Speaker Elachi, urging men to treat women with respect and dignity.

“Wazee waheshimu akina mama.. sio kuenda na kukosea mwanamke heshima.. wewe enda umtongoze pole pole.. ukibahatika sawa..ukikosa tafuta mwingine” he said.

The project, which will be financed through a Public Private Partnership, will have 10 interchanges, including the SGR terminus at JKIA, Eastern Bypass, Southern Bypass and Enterprise Road.
