On October 16, 2019, Nigerian international artist Yemi Alade brought her album Woman of Steel to Kenyan audiences with a listening party at Blue Door Restaurant and Lounge in Kenrail Towers, Westlands.
The event was the fourth for this album, following similar ones in Lagos, London, and Paris, and showcased Yemi's comfort in Kenya, where she had performed the previous weekend in Australia.
Artistes from Wendy Kemunto, Victoria Kimani, and Chimano of Sauti Sol were invited to the listening party, where Yemi expressed her gratitude for the love she has received from East Africa, particularly Kenya.
One of the tracks, 'Poverty', was translated into Swahili by Ivlyn Mutua, a testament to Yemi's appreciation for the region.
Yemi also spoke about her collaboration with legendary African musician Angelique Kidjo on the track 'Shekere', which took three years to work on.
She described Kidjo as a stern worker who can be intimidating, but also praised her as a woman who is still going strong after all these years.
The video for 'Shekere' is still being worked on, featuring Hollywood actor Djimon Hounsou, who has been Yemi's crush for years.
