Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge, the greatest marathoner of all time, touched down in Nairobi on Wednesday morning aboard a Kenya Airways flight.
The plane from Amsterdam landed at 6:18am, bringing Kipchoge back home three days after his historic achievement at the INEOS Challenge in Vienna, Austria.
On October 12, 2019, Kipchoge made history by becoming the first human to run a marathon in under 2 hours, clocking an astonishing 1:59:40.
He completed the first 21 kilometers in 59.35 minutes, 11 seconds under the two-hour pace, and maintained a remarkable 4:34 minutes per mile pace throughout the race.
“Today we went to the Moon and came back to earth! I am at a loss for words for all the support I have received from all over the world. Thank you to all who gave me the opportunity. Asante,” Kipchoge said in a statement.
His latest feat adds to the world-class status of an athlete who has won an incredible 11 out of 12 marathons.
