Published on October 16, 2019, Kiambu deputy governor James Nyoro and Thika MP Patrick Wainaina have joined forces to combat land grabbing and fraud in Thika and Kiambu county.
Addressing the Thika business community, Nyoro and Wainaina pledged to immediately repossess public utility lands and those acquired illegally.
They highlighted the alarming rate of land fraud in Thika, which they vowed to tame.
According to Nyoro, plots and land have been illegally lost to land speculators. He emphasized, 'We will sit down with the business community and local leadership to list all the grabbed land, and repossession will be carried out immediately. It will not matter who has grabbed what or what development has been done. We will get them back.'
Wainaina expressed concern that grabbers are being issued with title deeds by the county government, a claim denied by Nyoro. He regretted that half of Kisiwa Primary School in Ngoingwa Estate has already been grabbed.
Wainaina urged the public to purchase land genuinely, stating, 'If you want land, purchase it genuinely as there is abundant land for sale.'
Nyoro also announced plans to purchase the Kiambu government's land in Makongeni, which was previously converted into a bus park, from Posta.
