Mombasa County is gearing up to host the national Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, 2019, at the newly revamped Mama Ngina Waterfront Park.
According to Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata, the county has been preparing for the event, which will attract high-level government officials, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Elungata cautioned residents against disrupting the celebrations, stating that the head of state will use the occasion to address their grievances.
The park, which was recently revamped to international standards, will be opened to the public for the first time on Mashujaa Day, and it is expected to play a critical role in promoting tourism in the region.
Over 200 Kenyans are set to be recognized for their contributions to the nation during the celebrations.
Speaking to KBC, Elungata emphasized that the region's security apparatus is under instructions to deal with any acts of lawlessness during the event.
