On October 16, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first human to run a marathon under 2 hours in Vienna. Now, he's back in Kenya, but his return was shrouded in secrecy.
While millions of Kenyans watched his historic event on television, Kipchoge opted for a low-key return, avoiding a grand welcome at the airport. Instead, Kenya Airways announced his return on their social media page, disappointing many who wanted to give him a hero's welcome.
Kenya Airways tweeted, 'Honoured to fly our CHAMPION @eliudkipchoge home from Amsterdam. The Pride is so proud of you! #ChampionOnBoard #NoHumanIsLimited' on October 16, 2019.
