On October 16, 2019, a devastating truck bomb exploded near a police station in Laghman province, eastern Afghanistan, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos.
According to officials, the blast claimed the lives of at least two police officers and injured six others, while about 20 children were wounded by flying glass when the bomb partially destroyed a nearby madrassa, or religious school.
Asadullah Daulatzai, the spokesman for the governor of Laghman province, confirmed the incident, stating that the students were wounded by flying glass.
The interior ministry blamed the attack on the Taliban, who have been waging a relentless insurgency in Afghanistan.
The country is currently awaiting the results of the first round of presidential voting, which took place last month, amidst a backdrop of small-scale attacks claimed by the Taliban.
