Real Madrid's preparations for their highly anticipated Clasico match against Barcelona on October 26 have been dealt a blow with key players Luka Modric and Gareth Bale missing training on Tuesday.
Modric and Bale each underwent gym work indoors as they attempted to recover from injuries sustained during the Euro 2020 qualifier between Croatia and Wales on Sunday.
Wales coach Ryan Giggs had initially suggested that Bale's calf issue was merely cramp, but the severity of the problem remains unclear.
Real Madrid later confirmed that Modric had suffered a thigh injury in the match, with the club's medical department diagnosing a bruise in his right quadriceps.
Modric's recovery will continue to be assessed, but the timing of his return to fitness is uncertain, particularly with a crucial Champions League group game away at Galatasaray scheduled for the week before the Clasico.
Lucas Vazquez has also picked up a knock and is unlikely to be available for Real Madrid's upcoming match against Mallorca on Saturday.
