On October 14, 2019, a violent robbery occurred at the Kenya Bus Station in Nairobi, where Sara Mutoro Wafula was allegedly robbed of a mobile phone worth Sh16,500.

During the scuffle, Wafula bit Boncafe Musoti Tuti, the 25-year-old suspect, who is now seeking medical attention due to a persistent wound.

Tuti pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested that Wafula be tested for HIV, citing the pain and slow healing of his wound.

However, Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku denied the request, stating that the court lacks the authority to issue such orders, and it is the responsibility of medical professionals to determine the necessity of an HIV test.

Despite this, Mutuku ordered Tuti to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Tuti was released on a Sh500,000 bond and an alternative cash bail of Sh300,000, with the hearing of the case set to begin on November 6, 2019.
