Published on October 16, 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kigetu-ini village, Murang'a, where a 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly killing her one-year-old son.

According to reports, the woman used an axe to hack her child to death before disposing of the body in a pit latrine.

A relative of the suspect described the woman's state as 'disturbed' and 'in panic' when she visited her house.

'I visited her house, but she was in panic. I found her wrapping something before she went out of her house,' the relative said.

Efforts to get the woman to speak were unsuccessful, and it was later discovered that she had allegedly killed her son.

The body was found in the toilet, and the police were alerted through the area chief, Mary Wanjiru.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the police confirming that a mental assessment of the suspect will be conducted.

'She will be taken to court after the police complete investigations,' said Murang'a East Sub-County Police Commander Alex Muasya.
