On October 16, 2019, the East African Seed Company made a significant move by opening an office in Narok town, a strategic decision aimed at bringing its services closer to farmers in the South Rift counties.

The company, which has a presence in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi, has been based in Nairobi since its inception 40 years ago. However, with the advent of devolution, the company saw an opportunity to move to the grassroots and serve farmers more effectively.

Speaking during the opening, Marketing Manager Chege Macharia explained that the company had been receiving an increasing number of farmers at its Nairobi offices, prompting the decision to establish a presence in Narok. "Since 1972, we have been based in Nairobi but the increase in the number of farmers flocking to our offices for services prompted us to get close to them,” he said.
