On October 15, 2019, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa addressed a shooting incident that had left one person dead in Malindi.
According to reports, Jumwa stormed a meeting of ODM candidate Reuben Mwamure Katana at his residence, accompanied by some police officers. They started firing in the air to disperse the agents and the youths who were providing security at the home of the candidate.
During the scuffle, an unknown person from Jumwa's vehicle began firing at the crowd, resulting in the death of Mzee Ngumbao Jihole, Mr. Mwamure's uncle, who was shot in the chest and died as he was being rushed to hospital.
Confirming the incident, Malindi Sub-county Police Commander Phillip Wambugu stated that investigations had been launched into the matter.
Jumwa denied any involvement in the scuffle, stating on Twitter, 'I wish to officially dispel all rumors and propaganda peddled in social media platforms and mainstream media #AishaJumwaNotArrested @pic.twitter.com/gPTaD79IoR.'
